Matthew 25:35
"For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me."

One Heart - Many Expressions

ShareFest: April 2012

Those who love Christ are united in their desire to show His love to others. We share one heart, but His love can be expressed in an infinite number of ways. Whatever the method of expression, when Christ's love is demonstrated, people respond.

In April 2012, churches will join a unified effort to deomonstrate the love of Christ to the greater Oklahoma City metro area. The purpose of ShareFest is to glorify God by serving the needs of our community -- blessing neighborhoods, families, schools and other special groups.

.

ShareFest is an opportunity for Christians to show how much they care about their community and the people of their community.

~ Mayor Mick Cornett

ShareFest is an annual event created to highlight and celebrate the ways our faith community touches the needs of our city. It is an opportunity for the Church to inspire real hope, offer real help, and to "Let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven," as Jesus encourages in Matthew 5:16.  You can learn more about the origins of ShareFest here.

Churches across the OKC Metro are invited to take part in a month-long blitz of service. Each church is encouraged to select a project that will be of significance to the community—one act of kindness that blesses families, neighborhoods, or schools.

Frequently Asked Questions

We hope that the following answers help you in your efforts to understand better what ShareFest is and how it works. If not you can also contact us.

What are the advantages of being a ShareFest Partner?

Your congregation will be energized and catch a greater vision for reaching out to their community. You will experience the joy of visibly uniting with other congregations. Your service activity will build bridges of spiritual influence in your community. God will be glorified. Your church will be recognized as a participant in ShareFest 2011.

We have our own projects. Why join with ShareFest?

The activities of most churches involved in community service are relatively unknown outside of their own congregations. ShareFest can be an opportunity to highlight your ministry and give glory to God. Your joy in serving can be a powerful example to influence and encourage others in the Body of Christ.

Do we have to be involved in all of ShareFest?

While we hope you will choose to be involved in all components of ShareFest, each organization should decide the level of involvement appropriate for them. You can choose to participate in any one, or all aspects.

What kind of projects are done, and how are they chosen?

Projects are intended to benefit those most in need in the community. Special emphasis should be directed to benefit youth, those with limited incomes, those who are jobless or homeless, the elderly, and those who are sick. A church can select projects on their own or choose from a variety of worthy projects provided by ShareFest. Projects are limited only by the creativity of each church. But typical projects could include painting, fixing, cleaning, or beautifying schools, nursing homes, public housing apartment buildings, or perhaps sprucing up playgrounds in public parks or schools.

How should we organize for ShareFest participation?

We recommend each church identify a minimum of one person as their ShareFest Project Coordinator. Churches taking on more than one project, or partnering with another church may need to have several project coordinators.  Download the Guide for Organizing Your Workday here.

Your partnering sheet mentions a financial contribution.

This money supports the staff and activities necessary for making ShareFest a reality.
